Oak Grove Tiger Baseball

  • Since Oak Grove's first baseball team hit the field in 1974, the Tigers have played in 4 state championships.
  • Coach V.R. Dalrymple was the first baseball coach at Oak Grove.
  • That first season all of Oak Grove's games were on the road, because they did not have their own park.
  • The Tigers were district runner-up and made the playoffs. After losing in the first round of the playoffs in 1974, Oak Grove has won titles in 1989, 1992, and 2001, while finishing as the State Runner-up in 2000.

  • Three different coaches have led the Tigers to the state finals...
  1. David Ray Butler (1989, 1992)
  2. Steve Harris (2000)
  3. Clint Harper (2001)

Twelve state championships between them! (16 if you count the summer league title in 1986; it's the only one West Carroll has ever won.)

  • The 1989 baseball team actually didn't receive a State Championship ring. Neither did the 1988 Basketball State Championship team. The 1989 Football team was the first Championship Team to ever be awarded "rings."
