The 1976 2A State baseball Champions were St. John Vianney Prep from New Orleans, not Farmerville. They defeated River Oaks 3-2 in the championship game in Alexandria, La.. Check the New Orleans Times Picayune archives. I played in the game.

In 1978 the year Kinder defeated St Louis for the AA State Championship you have them with one loss. they went undefeated 14-0 that year.

Ray Great site. We have common interests, as I have never missed a super dome classic since 1982, even when we flooded in 2005 in Shreveport. I go to see hs games every weekend to see my former players ( I coach jr. High) all around the New Orleans area. I can help with info on teams down south if you need me. Thanks for your great work.

Enjoyed your site living in New Iberia, some times you dont get all the flavor of other areas and coverage of the state. Thanks for putting it all in one. I follow NISH(New Iberia),CHSNI (Catholic New Iberia) Westgate (New Iberia) most of the time and recently Loreauville and Breaux Bridge. I call in scores to local radio KANE 1240 am station. I listen also to Mike Bernard and Big Dave Thibodeaux on 105.1fm of St Martin Parish football and their Bigtyme sports show on Sundays at 10am on 1420 am. 1420 am also has Mr. Bitter(James Bitterman) thats has Saturday morning sports show. They cover Acadiana high football and Lsu and all acadiana. James was Removed from friday night broadcasts, I dont know the story but it was pure Politics, i guess. politics.

I was looking at the class 1A records and you have an error. The most rushing yards in a game you have is 389. Delcambre High School rushed for over 550 yards in a game in 2009 against North Central in a 68-20 win. Tailback Jorey Renard had over 300 yards by himself. I can get the film to verify and send it to you. I can also get the exact totals as I was the stat guy at the game. Just send me an email if your interested and I will respond quickly.

I went to Oak Grove from to 1976-1981. I wanted to ask, was your dad a coach in that span. I really enjoyed his enthusiasm for football. Please send my best to him. I am bringing my sons to a game this year. Would like to meet you,if possible.

Really enjoyed going down memory lane by this website. I was a former player at Wossman High, signed with Hinds Community College, and then signed with University of Kentucky. I graduated in 1986 so indirectly I made an impact in some of this information:) Anyway, great photos and awesome song by Johnny Cash at the end.

Bill Mikelson led Port Sulphur to chapionships in 79 and 81, so he should have 2 championship appearences. Not one.

Great information by the way - Mike Fontenot hit a double in the state semifinals to beat us (Woodlawn High School of Baton Rouge) They went on to win the 1996 4A State Champion baseball Salmen http://highschoolsports.nola.com/news/article/-2818887893813146723/salmen-baseball-coach-bill-morris-stepping-down-at-end-of-season/

Cool site. An addition to the baseball champions: St. Frederick won the 1A Championship in 1976...I don't remember who they beat. Always admired Oak Grove's baseball and football programs. Oak Grove is a fun place to play. Thanks for sharing.

Great site. Thanks for all the work in putting it together. In baseball there are several errors. Parkview Baptist has 5 state titles in a row. 2002 - 2006 and Denham Springs I believe has won 3 state titles not one.

Great site! My wife and I went on a road trip and ended up in Oak Grove. Great town! We got a warm feeling of being in Oak Grove. We both graduated from Hahnville in 96. I played on the 92, and 94 championship team. As well as the 95 state runner- up team. We have never experienced small town football such as you guys have here. We're hoping to return one day and catching a home game. Anyway, thank you for putting this site together, it really brings your town, school, and football team out in the open where it should be.

Hey Ray, love the site. I am working on the history of Junction City Football. I believe the Dragons and Oak Grove may have played back in the 1920s-40s. Do you have any info on those years, that you may not have put on the site yet? Let me know. Again, love the site. Wayne Pumphrey

It is great to see someone who has a passion for lhsaa history. You cannot find anything historical about Louisiana High School sports on the web. The official LHSAA website is a disappointment. Keep up the good work, however I would personally like to see All-State team listings for football and basketball. It may be hard to find this info. It seems that Louisiana is so far behind other states with this type of historical information.

The correct score for the state championship game at St. James. 1979 St. James 14, Wossman 8 (OT) I was the cameraman for Wossman back then and it was a great game. The records has it 33-8.

Ray, I have a freshman football studyhall this year. 21 Freshman boys! I pulled this site up for them one day, and they loved it. It brought so much pride to them, and they loved seeing their dads, brothers, and uncles on here. Maybe some of them will make it on the site soon. Thanks, Brooke Duff (Freshman FB studyhall at OG) P.S. You actually coached one of these guys at West Ridge.
